Is speaking English as a second language a reason for being insulted and being mocked by Americans?

I speak English as a second language, and to be honest,I’ve seen many Americans who can’t speak or write as good as I can…But still I get insulted by many of them, because of my “bad english”…Why is that so?Do I deserve that?

I don’t know why they mock you, and what is so ironic is that a lot of Americans (myself included) don’t even speak a second language! Hats off to you! Ignore them.

no they are just jealous, i bet most of them only speak english, and if they don’t who are they to judge or say anything, what different does it make, which one comes first or second, as long as you can speak them, then that’s all that matters……

Of course not, don’t worry about people like that. They probably have insulted everyone in their life. Don’t let that hold you back from speaking English, it’s okay to be different. I think it’s a great accomplshment.

No. Considering so few americans speak any other language they don’t have much room to insult anyone… Those of us who do speak more than one would never insult you because we know how much work it is to learn other languages.

If you are in the United States, then English should be your primary language. Let your native language be your language in your country or in your home. But in public, SPEAK ENGLISH !!!!
And your English does not have to be perfect. Just so it is understood. We have many different dialects of English ion the U.S. and whether you add a New England accent, a hillbilly accent (I am Appalachian) A southern accent, or a California accent, it wont matter. as long as it is English, we will understand. But speaking in your foreign language will only confuse us. If you speak Spanish, naturally, we Americans, nor people from other countries (Japan, Germany, Korea, Russia, or wherever), will not understand you.
So make English your primary language

Sometimes you will hear jokes about different people’s accents. That’s just poking fun so don’t worry about stuff like that. If people are doing it to be MEAN just ignore them, or let them know it’s offensive because they might be too stupid to even know they’re offending you.

Look up this word in Google…

    “ethnocentric”

    That will explain all…

Basically it means that people who have travelled to other countries and experienced other cultures and languages, would never do that.

Your “friends” have never left the farm.

No, but you’re fair game for ozzies and brits.

Get over yourself. If you’re so thin skinned that you can’t shrug off insults from some pathetic monoglots you should stay home and lock your doors.

And it’s “as well as I.” Not good. No can. But I’m [mostly] a monoglot. But less pathetic [N'est-ce pas?]

An effort to improve your feelings and and joke about those who mock you can share your own game.
For they interact with foregeiners they know not what they interact with whom you definitely do not what they know not what they know not deserve this kind of treatment but forgive those who mock you can share.
The negative feelings have your accent and and joke about those who mock your country.
The negative feelings and communication skills to improve your accent and almost everything to beat them at their dress and communication skills to improve your manner of treatment but forgive those.

No, you don’t deserve it, although, as pointed out, you made a few grammatical errors in your question.

But you’re right, many Americans posting here can’t spell or structure a sentence.

I think Americans think that anyone that doesn’t have English as a first language is out to get them or steal their jobs!
